In March 2009, Secretary Napolitano launched an Efficiency Review across the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to foster a culture of responsibility and fiscal discipline and make the Department a leaner, smarter agency better equipped to protect the nation. For Fiscal Year (FY) 2012, all DHS Components identified reductions associated with the Efficiency Review initiatives currently underway as well as administrative savings totaling more than $800 million to strengthen mission critical activities across the Department.
