The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has indicated Pakistan is eligible for $US 3.6bn in project financing, which could include funds to restructure ailing Pakistan Railways (PR) and rescue it from the brink of collapse. PR's financial situation has become so dire that it has withdrawn 75 daily passenger services in the last two years and of the 157 remaining trains 28 are likely to cease operating in the near future.
