The Botanical Society of the British Isles (BSBI) set up the Monitoring Scheme (now called 'Local Change') to survey sample hectads (10-km squares) across Britain and Ireland in 1987 and 1988 in order to assess changes in the flora since 1960 (Rich and Woodruff 1990). The Atlas of the British flora (Perring and Walters 1962) consisted mainly of records collected between 1954 and 1960. By the 1980s it was generally realized that the Atlas of the British flora was out of date and thus the Monitoring Scheme was organized to gauge the status of the flora in 1987 and 1988, and to provide a more detailed way of monitoring changes in years to come. The project was re-launched in 2003, to cover that year and 2004. This paper records changes in the flora of Co Wexford (v.c. H12) between these two survey dates, i.e. 1987-88 and 2003.
