The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has dismissed the implica-tion that the Syrian air force used a Russian-made KhAB-250 sarin bomb in the sarin attack on Khan Shaykhun on 4 April. Human Rights Watch (HRW) released a report on 1 May stat-ing that munition remnants found in a crater in Khan Shaykhun "appear to be consist-ent with the characteristics of the KhAB-250" a Soviet-era bomb designed to deliver sarin. It said that a circular remnant appeared to be the same as the filling hole cap seen in a photo-graph of a KhAB-250. A second remnant appeared to have green bands painted on it: a colour used to identify chemical munitions.
