The US Navy (USN) has used its Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) to launch and recover an aircraft for the first time from first-of-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford (CVN 78). An F/A-18F Super Hornet was recovered and then launched from Ford while the ship was under way on 28 July.
