Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on 8 October called for state-run shipyard Servicios Industrials de la Marina (SIMA) to continue manufacturing vessels for the Peruvian Navy (Marina de Guerra del Peru: MGP). He specifically called for the construction of a second Makassar-class landing platform dock. SIMA is concluding construction of the first platform, BAP Pisco, but it is unclear when, if at all, the second one would begin production.
