The Pentagon is prepared to invest USD2 billion over the next five years to boost inventories of Tomahawk cruise missiles as well as integrate advanced capabilities to extend the weapons into the future, Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said on 3 February. Carter's announcement is a significant departure from the US Navy's (USN's) efforts over the past few years to stop buying Tomahawks.
