FT Sistemas SA has sold an FT-100 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to the Brazilian Navy, marking its first sale to the service. The UAV is to be used by the Brazilian Marine Corps for patrol and surveillance operations. It has a wingspan of 2.7 m, weighs 8 kg, and has cameras for daytime and night-time operations. FT Sistemas has sold its UAVs to the Brazilian Army as well. The army's FT-100s are expected to carry out surveillance operations during the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. If ready, the navy's UAV could also be flown during the Olympic Games.
