Raytheon has won an engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase contract to build the US Navy's (USN's) Enterprise Air Surveillance Radar (EASR) and S-band radar. The radars will replace the larger and more expensive dual-band radar (DBR) systems on future USS Ford-class aircraft carriers (CVNs). Under the terms of the USD92 million award, Raytheon will provide the navy with two EASR variants: a rotating array for big-deck amphibious ships and a three-faced fixed phased array for CVNs.
