Ethiopian Communications Minister Getachew Reda confirmed during a 26 October press conference that his country is withdrawing troops from Somalia, but denied the move has anything to do with the state of emergency at home. "We have been making a very conscious and responsible decision to evacuate our forces from many parts of Somalia," he said. "We always try to make sure that the Somali National Army is assisted in any way possible to fill the vacuum."
