The Ukrainian naval industry will redeploy its assets in the south of the country to Kherson and Mykolayiv, the head of Ukroboronprom, Roman Romanov, announced during a working visit to Kherson on 26 January. "Today we see the great potential of the southern region, in particular Kherson and Mykolayiv enterprises belonging to Ukroboronprom, in terms of the production of quality products, competitive not only in Ukrainian, but also in foreign markets," Romanov said. He stressed the importance of the Pallada Factory as "truly unique". Pallada produces floating and fixed structures. Particularly noteworthy are the composite floating docks with a lifting power of 2,000-3,000 tons. Much of Ukraine's naval assets and industrial capabilities had been tied up in Crimea, and Sevastapol in particular, which are now under Russian control following 2014's annexation.
