Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff and Minister of Defence Aldo Rebelo visited Sweden and Finland from 18-20 October as part of an official trip seeking in part to increase defence ties with the wealthy non-NATO Nordic states. Both visited Linkoping in Sweden on 19 October, where Saab is developing the 'Gripen NG1 fighter for Brazil, which has ordered 36 Gripen E/F fighters as part of its F-X2 project. Possible areas of co-operation discussed by Rebelo and his Swedish counterpart, Peter Hultqvist, included development of software solutions for Brazilian projects such as the navy's SisGAAz Blue Amazon management system and the army's SISFRON integrated border monitoring system.
