HMS Duncan formally entered service on 30 December 2013, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced, completing the Royal Navy's (RN's) six-strong Type 45 anti-air warfare (AAW) destroyer fleet four months ahead of schedule. The vessel, built by BAE Systems' yard at Goven in Glasgow, was commissioned on 26 September, but was not scheduled to enter operational service until April/March 2014.
