In its latest report the US Department of Defense's Director of Operational Test & Evaluation (DOT&E) noted Raytheon's Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensor System (JLENS) programme needs to undergo operationally realistic testing, improve reliability, and demonstrate survivability in an operational environment. The DOT&E expressed special concern that testing had been limited, leading to a "restricted demonstration of JLENS' capabilities" so far. "Interoperability has been minimally tested and demonstrated," according to the report. "All testing occurred in remote, mid-country locations; therefore, no testing occurred in an operationally realistic over-water environment or in its intended Electronic Environmental Effects environment," the report added.
