An initial batch of eight Mil Mi-171Sh 'Hip' multirole helicopters is expected to be delivered to the Peruvian Army in November 2014, according to Minister of Defence Pedro Cateriano. The remaining 16 helicopters are scheduled to be delivered in 2015. These aircraft are likely to replace the eight Mi-17s that have been in service since 1984 and join three Mi-171Sh variants that were acquired in 2010. A USD11 million budget has been assigned for repair and overhaul of the latter during 2014, as well as a USD2.8 million budget for overhaul of the presidential transport MM7-1B operated by the Peruvian Air Force.
