摘要

The German Bundestag has set Germany's defence spending at EUR32.4 billion (USD44.3 billion) for 2014, following a vote on 25 June. This approved budget is EUR400 million less than the budget proposed by Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen in April and represents a 2.58% decline over the 2013 defence budget. The reduction from the proposed budget was due to delays in military procurement and general federal budget consolidation efforts to reduce public debt by EUR6.5 billion. Von der Leyen admitted that the reduction hurt, but that it makes sense to save the money this year.
