Embraer is currently mid-way through the critical design review (CDR) of its developmental KC-390 tanker-transport aircraft with the Brazilian Air Force (Forca Aerea Brasileira - FAB), ahead of the first flight in 2014, officials told IHS Jane's on 13 March. Speaking at the company's Sao Jose dos Campos facility near Sao Paulo in Brazil, Paulo Gastao Silva, Embraer's vice-president for the KC-390 programme, said that, with the successful conclusion of the preliminary design review (PDR) in August 2012, he expected the CDR to pass just as smoothly when it concludes on 22 March.
