Switzerland has postponed approval for its purchase of the Saab JAS 39 Gripen E multirole fighter aircraft, it was announced on 9 April. The Security Policy Committee of the Swiss National Council (the lower house of the Swiss Federal Assembly) decided to suspend debate on the procurement until August. "As a result, the National Council will discuss the Gripen procurement during the autumn session and not as planned during the summer session," a spokesperson for the Federal Department of Defence, the Protection of the Population, and Sports told IHS Jane's.
