Israel Military Industries (IMI) is developing a new type of supersonic precision air-launched weapon that has no immediate Western equivalent. The Mars (a name derived from a Hebrew expression approximating to 'checkmate') is an air-to-surface missile for long-range precision strike that will soon be available for export, says IMI. Its very high speed is intended to make the Mars more surviv-able against modern air defence systems, the company adds.
