More than 1,000 protected mobility vehicles purchased for the war in Afghanistan are to remain in service with the British Army after the end of combat operations there in 2014. Senior UK Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) organisation officials told IHS Jane's at the DVD 2013 event at Milbrook proving ground on 20 June that political decisions to move the vehicles purchased with urgent operational requirement (UOR) funding into the British Army's core peacetime equipment inventory were made last month.
