The Royal Malaysian Air Force's (RMAF's) ambitious plans for force modernisation may be delayed by budgetary constraints, RMAF chief General Tan Sri Rodzali Daud has admitted to IHS Jane's. Speaking at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Gen Tan Sri Rodzali said the RMAF's priorities were the procurement of a multirole combat aircraft to replace its Mikoyan MiG-29 fleet, airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft and additional Pilatus PC-7 Mk II trainers.
