US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has pledged to explore new areas of technology transfer with Brazil to consolidate the two countries' newly expanded defence collaboration. During his visit to Brasilia on 24 April, Panetta reinforced the importance of US-Brazilian co-operation in expanding the nations' "already significant twoway trade in advanced defence technology".
