A bid by Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) to establish its third defence joint venture (JV) in India has failed to win approval from the Indian Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).The FIPB said in a 26 June statement that it had decided to defer judgement on a proposal submitted by M&M to set up a JV focused on radar systems and defence electronics. The identity of the foreign partner was not revealed but previous statements by M&M suggest that it is likely to be Israel's Rafael.
