US Naval Air Systems Command has awarded BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems a sole-source US028 million contract to commence full-rate production (FRP) of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) It guided rocket. The APKWS II is designed to deliver precision low collateral effect against soft and lightly armoured targets. The system achieved an initial operating capability on the US Marine Corp's AH-1W and UH-1Y helicopters in March 2012.
