The Swiss parliament has approved, with several strong reservations, the country's purchase of 22 JAS 39 Gripen E/F fighters. The approval, given on 21 August, is contained within a report from a subcommittee of the National Council's Committee on Security Policy, dealing with the replacement of the Northrop F-5 Tiger II in Swiss service: the Tiger Teilersatz (TTE - Partial Replacement of the Tiger) programme.
