South Korea launched a new pan-Asian security forum on 14 November that aims to foster regional co-operation and prevent its isolation at a time of heightened tensions in northeast Asia. The first edition of the Seoul Defense Dialogue (SDD) took place from 14-16 November with the ultimate goal of "build- ing peace and stability through co-operation", Vice Minister for National Defence Lee Young-geol told IHS Jane's.
