The US Navy (USN) has launched a manned aircraft for the first time using General Atomics' Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS), the service and its industry partner announced on 20 December.rnAn F/A-18E Super Hornet strike fighter from Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 (VX-23) was catapulted into the air on 18 December at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) EMALS trials facility at Lakehurst, New Jersey.
