A Libyan SS-1'Scud'ballistic missile transport erector launcher (TEL) vehicle was destroyed by allied aircraft in eastern Libya after it was detected by a UK Royal Air Force reconnaissance aircraft, Jane's has learnt. The movement of the 'Scud' TEL to eastern Libya is the first evidence that Libyan leader Colonel Moam-mar Ghadaffi's short-range ballistic missile forces have been active in the conflict. According to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), the 'Scud' TEL was hit in the Ajdabiya area on 23 March as pro-Ghadaffi armoured columns approached the rebel-held city of Benghazi.
