General Dynamics Land Systems - Canada (GDLS-Canada) announced on 29 August that it intends to offer the wheeled Piranha 5 vehicle fitted with Rhein met all's Lance 30 mm modular turret system for the Canadian Army's Close Combat Vehicle (CCV) programme. Five companies were shortlisted in October 2010 for the CAD2 billion (USD2 billion) project: Artec GmgH, BAE Systems Hagglunds AB, GDLS-Canada, Nexter Systems and Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH. However, neither Rheinmetall nor Artec is bidding in the competition.
