A report by the Military Advisory Board (MAB) of the Center for Naval Analysis (CNA) argues that a 30 per cent reduction in US oil demand is achievable but warns that the nation's reliance on market forces for its energy is making the country less secure. MAB insists government direction in the form of legislation, regulation and incentives will be needed to reach the 30 per cent goal and the partnership between the departments of defence and energy will need to be boosted.
