Senior Pakistan Army officers commanding operations in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) that border Afghanistan have told Jane's that they are prepared for a campaign against Islamic militants but do not want to appear to succumb to US pressure.FATA is inhabited by 3.5 million Pashtuns divided into more than 30 main tribes that include some of the most aggressive and well-armed irregular groupings in the world.
