MBDA Inc, the US subsidiary of panEuropean missile company MBDA, sees its acquisition of Viper Strike as the "first step" in building its US presence as it seeks to sell European products to the US Department of Defense (DoD), the company has told Jane's. Viper Strike's small precision weapons are well-suited for use on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and are seen by the company as a growth market. MBDA Inc is considering further US purchases to follow the acquisition of its new facility in Huntsville, Alabama - which forms part of the Viper Strike deal and is to be used as a manufacturing base for the Dual Mode Brimstone airto-surface missile if the US opts to buy it, according to Jerry Agee, chief executive of MBDA.
