The Indian Army is to conduct three-week-long trials in mid-2010 of two rival 155 mm/52-calibre towed howitzers - the Singapore Technologies Kinetics (STK) FH2000 and the BAE Systems FH-77 B05 L52 - in advance of making a 400-unit procurement. The rival guns had been scheduled to conduct winter tests in the northern Kashmir region in March, but the STK weapon was damaged in transit to India, further delaying the army's beleaguered artillery modernisation programme.
