The US Army's cornerstone modernisation effort to outfit units with new sensors, unmanned systems and a precision strike weapon is expected to cost around USD350 million for one brigade's worth of equipment, according to a document obtained by Jane's.rnInitial systems for this effort, called the Early Infantry Brigade Combat Team (E-IBCT) programme, were approved by the Pentagon in late 2009 to enter production for a first brigade set.rnThe Department of Defense (DoD) document, signed on 22 February by Pentagon Acquisition Executive Ashton Carter, formulates baseline costs for acquisition of the first nine E-IBCT equipment sets.
