BAE Systems has made its first US acquisition in 12 months with the USD352 million purchase of the bulk of naval support services firm Atlantic Marine from defence and aerospace private equity investor JF Lehman.rnThe deal - announced on 18 May - will see BAE Systems add Atlantic Marine's Florida (Jacksonville and Mayport), Mississippi (Moss Point) and Alabama (Mobile) operations to its existing ship repair and upgrade capabilities in the US. Lehman - which added Atlantic to its portfolio in 2006 - will retain the Boston and Philadelphia operations.
