Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) joined their US counterparts in a full-scale defensive fire exercise on 19 June in anticipation of the US departure by the end of 2011.rnUS Air Force (USAF) F-16 fighter aircraft and US Army Kiowa helicopters participated in the exercise, which took place at Besmaya Range Complex in Baghdad, along with ISF Ml A2 Abrams main battle tanks.rn"The main purpose [was] to show the Iraqi Security Forces how they can best utilise the range," US Major Robert Olszewski said in a statement released by United States Forces - Iraq (USF-I). "Since they are redeveloping their security forces ... with us here, it allows us to help them along that process and show them a way to do things and then we can tailor it to their needs in the future."
