The US Air Force (USAF) is asking Industry to propose ideas for a new smalt unmanned aircraft that can aid ground convoys in Afghanistan and Iraq with the detection of Improvised explosive devices (lEDs).rnIn a request for information (Rf I) issued on 26 October, the USAF said it is looking for a new IED detection drone because the US military's current robots operate mounted cameras that provide only limited surveillance coverage due to their height.rnThe Rf I said the USAF is seeking a new unmanned aircraft system (UAS) that can take off and land vertically from a mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicle to give ground forces a bird's-eye view of roadside bombs.
