Military Air Solutions is the business unit responsible for the development, production and support of air platforms, their weapons and their mission architecture. UAS activity falls under the remit of the Autonomous Systems and Future Capability (AS&FC) business.rnBAE Systems' Military Air Solutions division undertakes a wide range of activities from a number of sites in the UK. Key MAS programmes include the production and assembly of the Eurofighter Typhoon, the Nimrod MRA.4 programme, and support for existing in-service fleets such as the Harrier and Tornado. BAE Systems is also the primary UK partner in the Lockheed Martin-led Joint Strike Fighter programme.rnUnmanned Aircraft Systems have been identified as a signature area for the company's future growth, and development in this sector is entrusted to the Autonomous Systems and Future Capability business, headed by Chris Allam who also leads the Global UAS Team. As its name suggests, AS&FC has two principal functions. It not only leads the autonomous systems activity, but also oversees the Research and Technology development work, connecting the various strands of R&T work across the business unit, and beyond.
