摘要

India's Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has severely criticised a number of New Delhi's recent procurement programmes, prompting the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to investigate allegations of irregularities in the use of defence funds.rnIn a report tabled in parliament on 10 July the CAG said that 2,000 laser-guided 155 mm Krasnopol-M rounds, which the army acquired from Russia in 2002 for INR3.75 billion (USD77 million) "without necessary evaluation", had "proved unsuccessful". An earlier INR1.51 billion purchase of 1,000 similar rounds made in 1999 was also found to have been flawed.
