Anglo-Italian helicopter manufacturer AgustaWestland has won a follow-on order from Algeria for up to 100 rotorcraft to meet the North African country's battlefield and internal security requirements.rnDetails of the unannounced order, which could be worth up to USD5 billion, emerged from industry sources during the Defence Systems & Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition in London earlier this month. It follows on from a 2007 deal to supply six AW101 Merlin search-and-rescue and four Super Lynx Mk 130 surveillance helicopters. The first Algerian Super Lynx flew from the company's Yeovil site in the UK in July and deliveries are expected before the end of the year.
