The US Navy (USN) has awarded Boeing and Northrop Grumman a USD1.25 million concept refinement contract for the EPX airborne intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting aircraft programme. The EPX platform is part of the USN's post-Aerial Common Sensor intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting recapitalisation effort. As part of the five-month contract for the replacement of the USN's Lockheed Martin EP-3E signals intelligence (SIGINT) platform, Boeing will work with its industrial partner, Argon ST, while Northrop Grumman will work in partnership with L-3 Communications to help define programme requirements and develop initial system concepts for the EPX multi-intelligence system.
