Amid growing international interest, Raytheon is expecting to announce significant new orders for its Patriot air defence system. Sanjay Kapoor, vice-president of Patriot programmes for Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS), told Jane's that the company had seen a "resurgence of interest" in the system as the US Army upgrades to Patriot Configuration 3 firing units and stands up additional air defence battalions. "We are in ramp-up mode here," he said. The company created the Patriot business sector to combine US and international sales after the reorganisation of IDS. Building on the recent conclusion of contracts with South Korea and Taiwan, it has launched a marketing push to sell upgrades to existing customers and win orders from new countries.
