Russia plans to form a single aviation conglomerate resembling EADS or Boeing within two years to compete more effectively on the international market, according to Deputy Prime Minister Boris Alyeshin. The proposal has met general agreement between the state aerospace agency Rosaviacosmos, other state organs and major private groups with large stakes in the industry and has been handed over for approval to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov.
