The US Department of the Navy (DoN) FY03 budget continues trends of declining aircraft and shipbuilding procurement quantities, although the overall procurement spending is increasing. The DoNFY03 request of $108.3 billion includes $24.9 billion for procurement, an increase of $500 million from the previous year, as well as $12.5 billion for research and development, an increase of $ 1.2 billion from FY02.
