The US Office of Naval Research (ONR) is preparing to start build- ing a new experimental ship that will drastically deviate from existing US Navy hull designs and could point the way to what its future ships will look like. The ship, called the Littoral Surface Craft-Experimental (LSC-X), will help the navy explore advanced hull designs, construction and concepts of operation (CONOPS), said ONR director US Navy Rear Adm Jay Cohen.
