The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is considering accelerating the selection of two companies to participate in the Systems Integration and Assurance Phase (SIAP) of its Watchkeeper unmanned air vehicle (UAV) project to as soon as next month, according to industry sources. A decision to eliminate two of the four bidders currently involved in the more than £500 million ($730 million) programme had been expected during September 2002 (Jane's Defence Weekly 22 May).
