Over the past few years US defence and intelligence officials have conducted several projects aimed at increasing their understanding of the threats and challenges posed by biological weapons (BW). Three of those formerly secret projects were revealed last week, showing a pattern of grave concern among Washington's security establishment about the threats posed by BW, which US officials have begun viewing as one of the country's most serious security vulnerabilities.
