Oerlikon Contraves Defence of Switzerland (now part of the German Rheinmetall De Tech AG group) is developing a 30mm x 173mm Air-Bursting Munition (ABM) known as the PMC308. The PMC308 is based on the Oerlikon Contraves Defence NATO-qualified 35mm x 228mm Advanced Hit Efficiency And Destruc- tion (AHEAD) round, which is used with the GDF-005 twin 35mm towed air defence gun system. This round has been in production for several years. Like the AHEAD round, the PMC308 contains an electronic tinier module programmed inductively at the muzzle of the gun for variations in projectile velocity.
