Unlike earlier efforts that focused on minimising or eliminating the chance of a soldier or system being seen by the naked eye, modern camouflage has to address the threats to personnel and combat systems presented by a growing proliferation of sophisticated ground-based and aerial sensor packages. These sensors employ low-light, near-infrared (NIR) sensors and even radar sensors to enhance the visual acquisition of targets.
