The Anzac-class frigates of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) are to have their service life extended by up to 10 years amid potential concerns about their future seaworthiness and capability. According to a report on sustain-ment of the eight-ship class released on 18 March by the Australian NationalAudit Office (ANAO), the government was advised by the country's Department of Defence (DoD) in June 2018 that it would be necessary to extend the life of the class pending the entry into service of the replacement Hunter class, the first of which is expected to enter service in 2027.
